dance your HEART out. or your neck off...

This. weekend was. awesome.

We threw a dance party and....oh my.
It rocked our world, if we do say so ourselves.

Of course the day started with the baking of all kinds of valentine's-esque treats.
Red velvet cookies
sugar cookies
brownies
hand dipped pretzels
and pink rice krispy treats

yeah, the food was gooood.

So was the dancing.
We all have whiplash from dancing so hard.
My neck still hurts and it's Monday morning.
But the best news?
Aaron votes me best dancer.
Yeah. Not sure it's true but I feel great about it.
Some people say they grow out of dancing...
I'm pretty sure we never will.
Great end to a great weekend.

Love Always,

on dance parties, glitter, and cupcakes

I love acrylic nails. I really do.
Some girls like my sister hate them.
They find them inconvenient.

I, on the other hand, love them.
Love love love love them.
You see, I have these stubby little hands and I they make my fingers look longer.
And they are a great addition for rings on your fingers.
And giving back-scratches is one of my favorite pastimes.
So, naturally, I love them.
Anyways, we found out that you can buy acrylic nail sets at Walmart for like $6.
Score! We knew immediately that would be one of our purchases on Thursday night.
And who knew? They actually didn't turn out all that bad!

Also, we had a dance party this weekend.
If you didn't know, we really LOVE dancing.
So we do everything possible to prepare.
Including doing our nails,
curling our hair,
wearing glitter hairspray,
and stretchy pants to allow for full movement.
[neon or sparkly. always.]

Oh, and everyone knows that for a party to be good, the treats have to be good too.
That way it just gives more and more excuses for people to come.
If you ever want a successful party snack, these will do the trick.
I've been getting comments on them alll weekend.

And in case you were wondering, the party was an epic success.
If you don't love to dance, you should learn to love it.
[that's totally possible, right?]
Because oh my.... it. is. fun.

she's country....

So yeah, we have a ranch back home.
And I own real cowboy boots and a belt buckle.
And I love the smell of cows, grass, and dirt all mixed in one.
But where I'm from, the men don't dance.
So I've never really done the country dance thing.

Last night I went country swing dancing.
Best.
Choice.
Ever.
You remember how much I love to dance....right?
And as long as the boy could lead, I was all smiles.

But here's the thing about dances.
At any dance, there are bound to be winners.
and... losers.
Ok, losers is harsh. Let's do this classification by reasoning behind attendance.
Some boys go to dance. They come in a group, typically know what they're doing, and have fun.
[Still there to meet girls more often than not, but pretty normal]
And some go because.... well, girls will dance with them.
Especially here. Boys don't get turned down much around these parts.
So... I got asked by that type 2. twice.

the first one was a creep.
I mean straight up.
pull me in close and do weird, abnormal moves and.... yucky.

but you know, another one asked and I wasn't super excited.
He was probably 5 foot and walked a little funny.
and I think he might have been a little off upstairs.
he didn't really talk much while we danced, but he knew how to dance well. [no creeper moves included]
he spun me around here and there, and like I said before... I was all smiles.
very sweetly, and avoiding eye contact he said, "you have a really pretty smile"
of course, then I was prone to smile bigger and said thank you.
he messed up a little then bashfully replied, "Sorry, I can't dance when you smile like that"

Literally made my night, precious boy.
I know a fake compliment when I hear one.... I've gotten enough.
This was not fake. It was the most sincere one I've had in a while.
Gosh, wish I would stop judging right away.
It really isn't fair...

On a different note. We have 5 wedding invitations on our fridge.
Life, hurry up and get me a boyfriend so I can go to wedding receptions.
It's only a little more than slightly awkward to bring a first date.
and when the roommates don't know them, they aren't super keen on being your date.
shoot.

I loved this weekend.I got to hang out with the absolute best sorts of people.
and stayed up talking about life until unreasonable hours of the morning.
I danced in BYU dancesport, and got to the top 6 couples for samba.
[There was about 120 couples... we even got a sweet ribbon!]
I watched an awesome basketball game. [goooo Jimmer!]
& Made a fabulous apple pie.

I love packages. I love sending them,
I love receiving them.
I love everything about them.

Weekend

Oh my goodness..

Im obsessed with ballroom dance.
But really. I love to do it, I love to watch it. I love the beautiful dresses and the way it makes you feel pretty or sassy or cute, no matter how you were feeling before. I love that it's a team effort. The boys lead the girls, yes, but they have to work together. And when they both try really hard and practice, it turns into something beautiful.
Good thing I have kathryn to enjoy it with me :)

Last Saturday was dancesport. Kathryn and I both competed triple swing in the morning... then we may or may not have come back at night for another 5 hours to watch the other events....

So just a few things that have been on my mind...
(1) do you ever feel like right when you get to the point where you think you're handling everything pretty well, God feels the need to test you and see how much you really can handle? I literally wrote in my journal just the other day... "I'm really busy, but I feel like I am handling it better than ever"

Then this week came, and has stretched me more than a little. I took a test before class this morning, visiting teaching tonight, have a BYUSA overnight retreat/training tomorrow night, a bridal shower Saturday when I get back, I am giving a talk and teaching gospel doctrine on Sunday, and have a test and three assignments due on Monday :) So I'm considering that stretching. And if I'm going to have stress, I'd rather that it be this kind, because if I have Him to help, I can do it. This is about what my next few days look like....

GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO

...thanksgiving... :)

On that subject, I can't wait! I love my family. I just blogged about them, so I won't overwhelm you, but really I love them.

(2) So I always end up sharing these embarrassing stories on here....oops?
I went to classic skate on Thursday.
I haven't rollerskated since mayyyybbbbbeee 3rd grade?
needless to say, my skating skills were lacking.

I fell three times in the first 10 minutes. My date helped me out and for the next hour I made wild improvement (aka no falls!) then came the end...
Ready? Let's slow down he says
I make a frantic beeline for the nearest pole and use... my heel to brake? no, my toe.
....still fell.
Then came the finale. I'm awkwardly making my way to sit down.
The waitress walks directly in my path.
In an awkward attempt to avoid hitting her I make a failed attempt to stop.
I think I kicked her in the shins anyways.
my bad.
But you haven't heard the best part yet!
As I fell my ankle may or may not have buckled underneath me.
And made a bad noise accompanied by a bad feeling.
Yesterday I bummed a ride to school
and was gimpy all day.
But it's not bruised.... just awkwardly large
....i dont know?

Because now I know how much you are dying to view my hideous ankle...
I will show it to you.

eh... you can't really see it from this angle,
but let's remember how that foot on your left should not be connected to a canckle
(calf-ankle for those of you struggling),
but rather a normal ankle....

You should know these photos are a labor of love.
Note Above: the awkward positioning of my body.

Mostly that is all I have.
Hope you're having a great day :)
